How To Kayak | The Basic Paddling TechniquesThere are some different paddling techniques that people use.

When you first get into a kayak, your brain is computing a million new things all at the same time.

But after the initial “feel” settles in – paddling becomes comfortable and natural and your brain says “hey … this is nice”! That is !!

Start by resting the paddle across the cockpit and make some adjustments to loosen up. Stretch out your legs – relax your shoulders – twist your neck from side to side to relieve the tightness.

Extend your arms out, with open hands, make arm circles backwards and forwards. This loosens your shoulder and neck muscles. To learn some paddling exercises, see the Paddling Fitness.
